BAck to SchOol

It's that time of year!

Remember Show and Tell?    My favorite "Show and Tell" was time my dad made a colorful circus wagon for our pet guinea pig, Ringo.  It looked just like the one in this picture (the cage, not the guinea pig.)    It was white, and looked like a fanciful carnival wagon.  It had bright red, yellow and orange circus colors and cut-outs, with fancy wheels and scrolled designs.  I'm sure it must have taken my father a long time to cut it out of plywood, glue it together and paint it.  Just like most things with kids, it magically appeared the day before "Show and Tell", bright and colorful and magical.  I was so enchanted with the little circus wagon, I think I slept with it in my room.  With straw sticking out all over, a few carrots and a new water bottle, Ringo and I headed off to school that day.  I was so excited to show off my pet to my teacher and friends.   Ringo loved his cage and enjoyed the extra attention (and carrots) from the kids in my class.

(It looked similar to the image below, but was built around a little guinea pig cage.)

...tell me about your favorite "Show and Tell"?

Beautiful Baby's Room ~ Bonnie

I love when people send me photos of baby's rooms inspired by my artwork! Enclosed are a few unique and beautiful images. In an era of mass marketing and generic baby rooms, it is refreshing to see truly unique and creative rooms.
These images are from Bonnie in Canada, she has pulled together a beautiful baby's room. The painting was painted by Bonnie with permission. I especially love the romantic and delicate chandelier, the high ceilings and the wonderful details. ~ Oh, Lucky baby~

Mini Calendars

Today, I received a wonderful email from Tina, a kindergarten teacher from California.
She wrote about enjoying the mini calendar.

Below are a few creative ideas how others have recycled the mini calendar.
  • One woman used them with scrap booking.
  • Another mom recycled the mini calendar page of the day as a note for her daughters lunch bag.
  • Another kindergarten teacher gave a page to a different student every day. Each student had a chance to feel special.

Some great ideas!

Do you have a creative way to recycle the pages of the mini calendar? I'd love to hear your ideas!

Trip to Italy

Just returned from a trip to Italy.   Art was everywhere..from the flower pots in the windowsills and the way people dressed to the architecture. Even the cappuccino's were works of art. My favorite city was Florence ... will post photos soon.

Max and Trilly- love at first sight

I found these cute puppies at Animal Haven, a wonderful rescue animal shelter and fell in love! But, I couldn't decide which one to take home... they were both so adorable.   So,  I called my husband and son to help choose.

When they came and saw the puppies together, they couldn't decide either

... then my husband said "let's take both!"

So we did...

They play together and are so much fun. Max is part Chow and had hair galore, Trilly doesn't have as much and it is not as thick. This summer, Max was miserable ( we thought he'd put on weight) When Max had a summer hair cut, he looked 50 lbs thinner...(hey! why doesn't that happen to me ?)

Max's haircut makes him look like a little lamb.
Notice Max has a Pom Pom tail.
