Christmas ~ Wishing You Peace

 

  It's that time of year...Christmas!

But for some (....Moms- you know who I mean....)

It is a time when things start to become too busy, too crowded, too costly, too stressful...

 ....too much.

 

Today, I was reminded of what Christmas is really about.  It's a time for peace, a time to stop and give thanks, to remember what is important.  It is a time for music, scented candles, counting blessings, 

sipping Hot Cocoa by a fireplace and time for watching the snow fall.

It's a time to  slow down, and spend time for friends and family.  

Our church is doing something special for the Season, it is called the "Advent Conspiracy"

a project created to help bring clean drinking water to people world wide.   

Next week,  I plan to donate 20% of my Etsy shop to help this project.  

If you ask a child what they remember most about this time of year, it is the little things that mean the most.   Spending time together, reading books, baking cookies, trimming the tree and making cards.

Happy Halloween! Pumpkins in the Windows

Welcome trick or treaters with funny pumpkins in the windows.

My favorites, the large purple pumpkins with faces and the lanterns with dots were purchased through the years. 

The others were made from paper Lanterns, 

I used markers to add silly faces.

Add lights and hang in a windows for a fun Halloween treat.

Town Fair? 

...but I lost to Ms. Janie. 

Ok... so it was a Mock-U-Town-Fair
when I worked in the Humor division of Shoebox.

But, it was a blast. 
I worked with some of the most creative and talented people ever.

Imagine a typical office.  Then imagine a room filled with quilts on tables,
sunflowers spilling from vases, pumpkin pies and
the fresh scent of homebaked goodies in the air...

It was the real thing!   

From lemonade in mason jars, piping hot ham and corn dishes,
to little yellow rubber duck games, it was a Town Fair to be remembered.
(I even made my mother's recipe for homemade biscuits, still warm, wrapped in a country
floral dishcloth, in a woven basket with tasty jams on the side.)
Can't you taste the corn dogs, caramel apples, hot apple cider and apple pie?
Then there were the fair games and activities.
Andy Newcomb and Lee Ahern were the genius minds behind it all.
With exceptional creativity and originality they made
work too much fun to be called work.

The End of September

It is the end of September.  Trees, grasses, and flowers are beginning to change to make way for brilliant October color.
